Joyce provides an enjoyable and relaxed practical workshop, dealing with vocal issues that can make a big difference to the choral sound. Learning is informal and questions are welcomed, as Joyce seeks to get the best sound possible. Often simple things bring about great improvements – who knew waving a football scarf could help your singing?
Joyce has been working as a coach with choral groups for over 25 years and welcomes input from conductors in creating each workshop. Her aim is to working flexibly to meet the current needs of each choral group, creating exercises and activities to match their current vocal requirements. Courses are full of helpful tips and techniques to try, take away and practise, but most of all, are enjoyable, relaxed and fun.
Joyce is currently studying for an MA in Vocal Pedagogy so is brimful of new ideas and up-to-date research as it deals with current vocal problems. She has worked with many choirs, providing full or half-day courses, or joining them for a shorter session at a rehearsal.
Recently she provided the vocal warm-up sessions for the Huddersfield Choral Society online summer masterclasses led by Simon Halsey, Suzi Digby and Hilary Campbell. In May she led a workshop for Colne Valley Male Voice Choir. Previous choral groups include Formby Choral, Blackburn Music Society, Lytham Choral Society, The Chapter House Choir, York.
She has been vocal tutor on courses for the Association of British Choral Directors and is the vocal coach for Huddersfield Choral Society, and Keele Bach Choir.
